New playgrounds on the way for Jack Misson Oval and Hardy Ave

27 October 2025

Wagga Wagga City Council is planning new playgrounds for Hardy Avenue in Central Wagga and Jack Misson Oval in Ashmont, and we are asking the community to vote for their favourite designs.

Both playgrounds have three different designs for residents to choose from, with voting now open online.

Council’s Works and Playground Officer John Conlan said the community input is an important part of the playground improvement process.

“The playground designs encourage play between younger and older children and incorporate exciting features that will add extra appeal to the neighbourhood,” Mr Conlan said.

“We’re encouraging community members to hop online and check out the three design options for each playground and vote for your favourite. We’re especially encouraging residents of each area to vote, as you know what is best for your neighbourhood.

The Hardy Avenue playground is located on the roundabout at the intersection with Emblen Street, while the Jack Misson Oval playground is bordered by Bardia Street and Lae Avenue.

“Each of the design options on the table incorporate traditional playground equipment, such as swings and slides, climbing equipment, as well as featuring bespoke elements.

“They will mainly cater for children aged from four years old to early teens and will have improved accessibility with more equipment at ground level.”

Residents can now vote for their favourite option. Voting for both playgrounds closes at 5pm on Friday 7 November 2025.

The funding allocated for each project is $63,000.

Council aims to commence construction on the winning design options in March to April 2026.
