Overview

Council is undertaking significant upgrades at the Gregadoo Waste Management Centre (GWMC) to improve operational efficiency, customer experience, and environmental outcomes, in alignment with our Waste Management Strategy.

Upgrades to the GWMC have been designed make the site safer, easier to use, and more accessible for everyone. Customers, including lease holders, will benefit from significantly improved access roads and smoother entry and exit experiences, while new traffic measures will improve efficiency for waste operators and the wider community.

Once complete, the overall project to renew and revitalise the Gregadoo Waste Management Centre will facilitate better access, enhanced service delivery, and a more positive site experience for all users.

Two separate projects will be undertaken to extend and upgrade the current Waste Cells at the GWMC.

  • Purpose Built Plant & Storage Shed - In Progress

    Funding: $2,397,660

Expected Completion: March 2026, weather and contractor availability permitting.

The GWMC Plant Shed Project will create a new purpose-built facility for the running, storage and maintenance of plant and equipment at GWMC.

The new space will include a parking area, enclosed workshop, washdown bay, refuelling facilities, shower and toilet facilities, a lunchroom, and office space, along with significantly improved access to these areas, for heavy vehicles.

  • RRR Shop Extended Access

Access to the RRR (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) Shop - sometimes referred to as the Tip Shop - will be extended to include additional days, with drop-offs available 7 days a week at the current transfer station.

Expansion of access to drop off services will make the process of donating easier, and is designed to encourage a commitment to reduce, reuse and recycle, across the community.

  • New Polystyrene Recycling Machine - Completed

Funding: Funded by Council in partnership with the NSW Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)

    Completed: December 2025

Council partnered with the NSW EPA to fund the installation of a GREENMAX Polystyrene Melting Machine, which is designed to recycle Expanded Polystyrene (EPS) waste.

The expanded polystyrene compactor uses a conveyor belt feed system which can handle up to 200kg per hour, allowing us to process material faster than ever, rendering it into a safe, stable and recyclable form.
