Overview

Wagga Wagga City Council is developing a Waste and Resource Recovery Strategy to establish a comprehensive and sustainable framework for driving change across Wagga Wagga and surrounds.

The aim of the strategy is the reduction of waste generation, promotion of resource efficiency, increase in recycling, extension of product lifecycles and the building of behavioural change and partnerships to support this.

What is a Waste and Resource Recovery Strategy?

A Waste and Resource Recovery Strategy is the first step towards transitioning our region into a circular economy

A circular economy is a more efficient and productive use of resources by sharing, reusing or repairing products, designing out materials that end up in landfill or as litter, and recycling materials.

This is opposed to a linear economy in which products are designed for limited use, which are purchased and used for a limited time and then disposed of, effectively going straight to landfill.

A Waste and Resource Recovery Strategy will identify ways in which Council and the community can incorporate more resource recovery into waste management.

Why do we want your feedback?

In order to develop the draft Waste and Resource Recovery Strategy we want to know what are the current consumer habits of our residents. We also want to know what, if any, recycling, upcycling and reusing of products our residents currently do or would be interested in doing.

The survey is anonymous, and takes 5 - 10 minutes to complete.

    Survey closes 31 July 2025.
