Dunns Road to remain closed until roundabout installation is completed at Holbrook Road.

Residents and motorists are advised that Dunns Road will remain closed between the Olympic Highway and Kunzea Place until the end of January 2024, weather permitting.

The re-opening will coincide with the completion of the roundabout being installed at the intersection of Holbrook Road and Dunns Road (at the eastern end of Dunns Road), which is expected to be the end of January 2024, weather permitting.

The reason for this decision is that work to install the roundabout involves a road closure and implemented detours, which will see traffic traveling through residential neighbourhoods. The additional traffic that would result from opening the western end of Dunns Road raises safety concerns for the residents living in these neighbourhoods, noting the challenges that have been faced in this project already by motorists ignoring signage and driving through restricted areas.

This is a decision that has not been made lightly, and Council understand residents are looking forward to the re-opening of Dunns Road and the end of the disruptions. We appreciate your patience and cooperation.

Dunns Road 3.3 km sealed reconstruction - Update and access:

The 3.3 kilometres of Dunns Road between the Olympic Highway and Kunzea Place is nearing completion. The newly paved stretch of road has been sealed and is awaiting line-marking which is expected to take place in the coming weeks. Access remains closed from the western end of Dunns Road (Olympic Highway intersection), with access for residents only maintained via the eastern end of Dunns Road.

Upgrade of the Olympic Highway/ Dunns Road intersection:

This stage of the project is progressing well; works on the eastern side of the Olympic Highway are continuing with the preparation of the sub-base. Culvert works are now complete, with final asphalt paving starting on the intersection this week. Preparation is also occurring for lighting to be installed.

Holbrook and Dunns Roads intersection works:

This stage of the project involves the construction of a roundabout at the eastern end of Dunns Road, at the intersection with Holbrook Road. Work is starting this week (week ending Friday 17 November), with detours expected to be in place next week (week ending Friday 24 November).

Construction will continue until early 2024, weather permitting. Detours include:

• Access maintained for northbound and southbound traffic on Holbrook Road throughout the work, with some restrictions in place.

• There will be no access for traffic travelling east or west for the duration of the works. Detours will be in place.

• Traffic east of Holbrook Road (from Lloyd Road) will be diverted via Mallee Road, Springvale Drive and Featherwood Drive.

• Traffic west of Holbrook Road (from Dunns Road) will be diverted via Currawang Drive and Mirbelia Drive.
