Pedestrian and Cyclist Safety directives in place during Kooringal Road Link construction

25 July 2025

Council is building a new footpath and footbridge along the eastern side of the road between Hammond Avenue and Copland Street, where no path currently exists.

Construction is progressing, with contractors now commencing bridge footing works.

These works involve excavation and coordination with Essential Energy due to nearby high-voltage overhead power lines. Some initial earthworks and embankment shaping have also taken place.

We ask that the community please note this area remains an active construction zone, and there is currently no safe path for pedestrians or cyclists.

Despite clear signage, some people have been observed walking or riding through the worksite or along the road, which is a significant safety concern.

For your safety, and the safety of construction workers, do not enter the site or attempt to pass through on foot or by bike.

Please follow all traffic control directions and signage in place.

Council is working closely with our construction partners to deliver this important infrastructure, but until the new link is complete, the area must be treated as a no-go zone for public access.

This community cooperation is essential to ensuring a safe work and transit environment for everyone.
