SAFER CROSSING: A pedestrian bridge will be constructed over Marshalls Creek as part of the new Kooringal Road Active Travel link.

Wagga Wagga City Council is moving forward with a new Active Travel Plan project, following the completion of the tender process for works to construct key upgrades to the Kooringal Road Link.

The project is set to include a 728-metre shared concrete path which will extend between the Exhibition Centre and Hammond Avenue, and a new pedestrian bridge over Marshalls Creek designed to provide a safer route for people walking and cycling in the area – especially where the current bridge forces pedestrians into traffic lanes.

These works have been planned for some time, and upon completion, will form the first section of Stage 3 of Active Travel Plan.

Construction is anticipated to commence within the coming months, weather permitting. Advice has been provided in writing to key stakeholders and business owners in the project area, with an additional letter to follow at a later date, confirming the official start date of the works once it has been determined.

This project will be delivered in partnership with the NSW Government, who are contributing $1,354,890 through the Get NSW Active Program.
