CBD means Central Business District. It is the part of a city, town or suburb where most of the economic, civic and social activity happens.

If you live, work, shop or play in the CBD then this plan will affect you and your experiences and interaction with the CBD. The CBD Masterplan will broadly address concepts such as:

• Climate resilience
• Wellness
• Identity

There are many different ways in which you can tell us your thoughts.

We are seeking early community input between Monday 4 March – Friday 26 April 2024. This input will help shape the form and content of the plan to best reflect our community’s aspirations.

Following this consultation, we will publish an engagement summary report explaining what we heard from our community and how it will inform the plan moving forward.

A draft CBD Masterplan will be prepared and publicly exhibited for community feedback in September – November 2024. This will be your chance to review and provide feedback on the final plan.

The Wagga Wagga CBD Masterplan will support a vibrant, distinct and people-focused central business district, retaining its primacy as an activity centre within a fast-growing region.

The preparation of a Masterplan for the Wagga Wagga Central Business District (CBD) provides Council with the opportunity to activate, diversify and improve the CBD for the community.

The objective of the CBD Masterplan is to produce a clear strategic planning and place-based approach for the future of the Wagga Wagga CBD, including ensuring its ongoing primacy, generating activity and vitality in the CBD and identifying required improvements to service a residential population of 100,000 people, 1.4 million visitors (on average per year), and the region more broadly.

The CBD is a place for everyone. We are seeking feedback from a broad range of stakeholders including:

• Community
• Business owners and operators
• First Nations
• Young people
• Disability advocates
• Developers
• State government
• Infrastructure and servicing authorities
• Emergency services
• Technical experts

We want to know what you think should be in our CBD Masterplan, so we haven't prepared a draft in advance. Your feedback will tell us what direction the document should take, and we will prepare a draft informed by our community and key stakeholder perspectives.

A draft document will be made available during the public exhibition phase of the project. You will have chance to comment on this document as well.
