Overview
Council has lodged a Planning Proposal with the Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure (DPHI) that proposes to amend the Wagga Wagga Local Environmental Plan 2010. The Planning Proposal seeks to amend the planning provisions that apply to Part Lot 2, DP702230 (11 Farrer Road, Boorooma) from 'R5 Large Lot Residential' to 'R1 General Residential' and remove the existing minimum lot size.
These amendments will enable Council to bring forward vacant land with the view to delivering additional housing opportunities in the short term, whilst long-term strategic planning for the Northern Growth Area is underway.
The existing R5 zoned portion of the land has limited development potential as only two residential lots could be created with the existing 2 hectare minimum lot size. The proposed amendment to remove the minimum lot size and rezone the land will provide an opportunity for additional residential lots which is consistent with the adjacent residential land uses.
