Remediation works on track at Narrung Street Former Landfill Site

WELL UNDERWAY: Contractors are currently working on the installation of a marker layer and placing of the clay capping layer at the site.

Wagga Wagga City Council is pleased to advise that works currently being undertaken at the Narrung Street Former Landfill Site (also known as the Wiradjuri Landfill Remediation Site) are progressing on schedule, with several key actions now completed.

The contract for these works was awarded to The Civil Experts (TCE) in January 2024, and commenced in March.

All required tree removals have been completed, with contractors currently working on the installation of a marker layer and placing of the clay capping layer.

Additional works related to turf/irrigation, storm water drainage, and car parking, are also underway, with the final milestone of the project to be installation of a new playground.

The project is expected to be completed by the end of June 2024.
