Playground progress at Narrung Street Former Landfill Site

6 September 2024

Progress continues at the Narrung Street Former Landfill playground, with shade sails now in place and the installation of soft fall surfaces set to begin the week of September 9.

While some delays have been experienced due to seasonal weather conditions affecting the newly laid turf, and a recent unexpected shift in contractor availability, the warmer weather has helped the turf establish itself, in a welcome outcome that has moved the project closer to completion.

Weather and ongoing contractor availability permitting, Council anticipates a two-part opening for the site over the coming month. Initially, the playground area will be opened to the public once the soft fall is installed and appropriate safety certification issued. Once the surrounding turfed and hydroseeded areas have become firmly established, the remaining grassed area will then be made accessible.

In anticipation of these openings, Council expresses their sincere thanks to neighbours of the park and residents of the surrounding area, for their patience and cooperation throughout the project, especially during periods of delay. Their partnership and understanding have been greatly appreciated.
