The section of the Narrung Street Former Landfill site (also known as the Wiradjuri Former Landfill site) containing the new playground, is now open for public access.

The refreshed space includes colourful new play equipment, a durable soft-fall rubber surface designed to support physical safety, and an overhead shade cloth which will provide improved sun protection for children and families using the refreshed play facilities.

Residents of the area have been advised directly that the wider site beyond the playground will remain fenced off until after the commencement of the new year.

Council confirms this staggered opening of the overall site is required in order to facilitate completion of additional works. These works will address previously identified drainage issues in the area.

Further advice will be provided to residents in the new year regarding the anticipated timeframe for drainage repair works, noting that they will occur as weather, contractor availability and required approvals permit.

A map of the current site is provided below, in addition to further photos of the newly installed play equipment.

The purple line on the site map indicates both the newly accessible playground area, and the section of the site which will remain closed at present.

The remaining site area will reopen at a date to be advised, after the above works are completed and final project sign off has been received by both internal and external stakeholders.

Council would like to reiterate their thanks to residents in the surrounding area for their patience throughout the lifespan of these works.
