Humula and Mangoplah residents invited to share flood experiences

27 August 2024

Community consultations are scheduled for Humula and Mangoplah in the coming week, as Council – in partnership with WMAwater – seeks to gain a greater insight into localised flood behaviour in these areas.

Residents are invited to share their knowledge, flood experiences, and any photos or records from past flooding events.

This local knowledge and lived experience, is crucial in better shaping Council’s development, planning, community education, and mitigation strategies in a way that helps ensure they will effectively serve village communities in the years to come.

Flood Studies and consultation sessions form the first stage of that strategic process and are designed to help Council better understand contemporary flood risks to village communities.

Information gathered will then be used to help identify and assess potential long-term flood management strategies.

Council is particularly seeking records and insights that relate to recent floods (2010, 2012 and 2014), however all information relating to past flood behaviour in these areas, regardless of year, will be welcome.

To share your Property Flood Mark photos, you are able to email floodfutures@wagga.nsw.gov.au.

When emailing photos, we ask that you please provide details for each photo including the time, date, and location at which they were taken.
