Community consultations successfully held in Humula and Mangoplah

11 September 2024

Council's recent community consultations in Humula and Mangoplah - undertaken in partnership with WMAwater - were held last week, with residents sharing their knowledge and experiences related to past flooding events. The sessions provided key insights into localised flood behaviour, particularly from the significant floods of 2010, 2012, and 2014.

Such information is crucial in shaping future development, planning, and flood mitigation strategies for these village communities. The next stage of the process will involve WMAwater presenting their findings to the Floodplain Risk Management Advisory Committee (FRMAC) in November 2024. This will mark a pivotal step in the ongoing effort to develop long-term flood management strategies tailored to the unique needs of Humula and Mangoplah.

Council thanks all residents who participated in the consultations and contributed their valuable insights, ensuring that future strategies will be informed by both data and lived experience. Further updates will be provided as the project progresses.
