Overview

Council endorsed placing the revised Media Policy (POL 090) and the new Social Media Policy (POL 065) on public exhibition for 28 days from 26 August 2025 until 23 September 2025 and invite public submissions until 6 October 2025.

Following the submission period, Council will receive a report addressing any submissions made with respect to the two draft policies.

About the Policies

The revised Media Policy (POL 090) and the new Social Media Policy (POL 065) have been updated and developed to align with the NSW Office of Local Government’s (OLG) model policies released in December 2022.

The revised Media Policy removes references to social media to clarify its focus on traditional media engagement. The new Social Media Policy establishes a standalone framework for the responsible and consistent use of social media by Council officials, staff and Councillors.
