Overview

The public exhibition period for this document has passed and submissions are under review.

Council endorsed the public exhibition of the Draft Kerbside Collection Services Policy (POL 016) at its Monday 21 July Ordinary Council meeting.

About the policy

As part of the scheduled review of the Replacement of Stolen or Damaged Kerbside Collection Bins Policy (POL 016), Council officers have undertaken a comprehensive update and expansion of the policy, incorporating it into a broader framework titled Kerbside Collection Services Policy (POL 016).

This change ensures a consolidated approach to kerbside waste management, including bin replacement, service eligibility, contamination controls, and operational responsibilities for both residential and non-residential properties.

The renamed and expanded policy improves clarity and service transparency, aligns with Council’s operational practices and environmental objectives, and ensures consistency across all aspects of kerbside collection service delivery.

Key considerations of the draft policy are:

  • No changes will occur to existing residential or non-residential services under the current kerbside collection contract.
  • New requests for non-residential kerbside collection services will see changes from the date of the policy’s adoption
  • Upsizing or additional bin requests will be accompanied by a bin assessment
  • Residents will be encouraged to utilise additional recycling and organics bins before accessing additional or upsizing general waste bins.
