Overview

North Wagga is a unique village area located adjacent to the Wagga Wagga urban area and maintains a strong residential character. It is strongly influenced by flood constraints and limited infrastructure capacity.

However, its proximity to the city is contributing to increasing interest in non-residential uses such as storage, depots, workshops, and yard-based activities.

Council has heard feedback from residents about:

  • large sheds and storage uses
  • visual impacts and streetscape changes
  • increased traffic and operational impacts

We are seeking community feedback on a draft amendment to the Wagga Wagga Development Control Plan (DCP) 2010 relating to non-residential development in North Wagga.

The amendment seeks to balance opportunities for appropriate non-residential development with the need to protect residential amenity, village character, and infrastructure capacity.

The proposed amendment introduces a revised character statement, village plan, objectives, and controls intended to guide the assessment of non-residential development having regard to the unique character, infrastructure constraints and emerging development pressures affecting North Wagga.

Have Your Say

The draft amendment is on public exhibition and open for submissions from 5 June 2026 until 3 July 2026.

We invite landowners, residents, businesses, and the broader community to review the draft amendment and provide feedback.

A further report will be provided to Council following the public exhibition period addressing any submissions received and recommending any necessary amendments prior to finalisation of the Development Control Plan amendment.
