Drone photography captures exciting progress at Jubilee Park

An important visual milestone has been reached in the Bill Jacob Athletics Centre upgrade, with drone photographers capturing aerial footage last week of the significant progress made to date on the track surface.

The images - captured and provided by Polytan and Excel Grey Bruni - are a welcome and encouraging sight as 2024 draws to a close, particularly given the varied and challenging weather conditions contractors have encountered at multiple key points during the construction process.

Works undertaken in recent weeks include installation of the rubber component of the track, and installation of pits and other field-based infrastructure for events including long jump, steeplechase, discus throw, and pole vaulting.

At present, contractors are focusing on installation of the final layer of track surfacing, while also preparing for upcoming works including line marking, installation of the track perimeter fence, and connecting the conduit and cabling required for the light poles.

Below are a selection of the most recent drone photos taken, which primarily capture large scale updates to the track surface.
