Overview
Council is placing the proposed classification of two drainage reserves, located in Brookong Avenue, Wagga Wagga, on public exhibition. These reserves have historically been used and managed as part of Council’s infrastructure, but formal ownership has not reflected this.
Formalising the ownership of these drainage reserves represents a proactive approach by Council to address historical anomalies and ensure the land is correctly managed as part of essential public infrastructure. As the drainage reserves are primarily used for stormwater management it is most appropriate for them to be classified as operational land.
A report was presented at the 13 October 2025 Ordinary Meeting, where Council resolved to support, in principle and subject to public exhibition, the classification of the vested drainage reserves as operational land under section 34 of the Local Government Act 1993.
A public exhibition period was held from 17 October to 14 November 2025.
Public Exhibition
The public exhibition period was held for 28 days from 17 October 2025 to 14 November 2025.
Upon completion of the public exhibition period a further report will be provided to Council noting any submissions received and seeking an endorsement of a final resolution to classify 28A and 54A Brookong Avenue identified as Auto Consol 3727-88 being Lots 37 & 38 Section H Deposited Plan 13345 as operational land.
The proposed report’s recommendation to go back to Council at the end of the public exhibition period is as follows:
That Council:
- Note x submissions received during the public exhibition and noted in the body of the report
- Classify the land described as 28A and 54A Brookong Avenue, Folio Identifier Auto Consol 3727-88 and identified as Lots 37 and 38, Section H Deposited Plan 13345 as operational land in accordance with section 31(2) of the Local Government Act 1993
