Overview
Council proposes to make a change to the Wagga Wagga Local Infrastructure Contributions Plan 2019-2034 to include the following works in Blake Street.
- reconfiguration of the existing on-street car parking between Morgan and Forsyth Streets from parallel parking to angle parking
- reconfiguration of existing road design including the installation of new traffic calming devices at either end of Blake Street
- establishment of new line marking and signage including the designation of disabled car parking spaces
- removal of existing street trees and replacement with crepe myrtles
- replacement and upgrade to 2.5-metre-wide footpaths on the western side of Blake Street
- landscaping and installation of three lights in the Blake Street Council carpark.
The developer of 12 Blake Street Wagga Wagga has offered to enter into a works in kind agreement to construct the new proposed works in the Local Infrastructure Contributions Plan. The development of 12 Blake Street was approved under DA19/0125.
The changes to the Local Infrastructure Contributions Plan and the draft works in kind agreement are on public exhibition.
Community members are encouraged to review the changes and works in kind agreement and make a submission before Monday 25 November 2024.
What we want your feedback on
The works in kind agreement was originally placed on public exhibition in 2022 and January 2023.
The agreement is now being publicly exhibited due to a change proposed by the developer regarding the species of street tree being provided on the western side of Blake Street.
The current agreement proposes to remove all the existing street trees on the western side of Blake Street and replace them with crepe myrtles rather than Chinese elms, as was originally proposed in January 2023.
Council is seeking your comments on the proposed change to the tree species.
