Nguluway "Meeting Each Other" Reconciliation Tree Planting at Wilga Park

27 October 2022

Today staff from Wagga Wagga City Council Parks team along with students from Kooringal Public School and Mount Austin Public School met at Wilga Park in Kooringal and planted some trees together.

We were blessed with a break from the rain and had a lovely time with the kids working with their teachers, and local Wiradyuri community members and Elders, to plant the trees.

This event was planned by Wagga Wagga City Council as part of it's commitment of working closely with the local Wiradyuri and First Nations community to demonstrate the Council's continuing journey of reconciliation.

I was able to perform Council's Acknowledgement of Country endorsed by local Wiradyuri Elders and translated by Uncle Stan Grant's language trust and speak about how important it is for Council to have this acknowledgement and how important it is for myself to be able to do it in Wiradyuri Language.
