Aunty Fay Moseley Artwork Unveiling as part of the new Wellbeing Space at the RAAF Base

6 September 2022

Today I was invited by Aunty Fay and Uncle Bill to attend the unveiling of the artwork that was created for the RAAF Base's new Wellbeing Space for their students and trainees.

Aunty Fay was approached about creating this artwork by the Jodie Peck from the RAAF base at the Truth Telling Panel held during the Nguluway Reconciliation Week events where Aunty Fay, alongside James Evans and Uncle Hewitt Whyman, spoke about the importance of First Nations soldiers in the defense of Australia. It is amazing to see that from the process of telling the true history of Australia there is tangible outcomes such as a strong relationship between our Wiradyuri Elders and the RAAF base - and seeing beautiful Wiradyuri art taking space at the RAAF Base.

The event was a huge success with many people from the RAAF in attendance, as well as community members from Wagga Wagga.

Congratulations to Aunty Fay and Uncle Bill on another success commission and the RAAF base for the successful opening of their Wellbeing Space!

Thank you to James Evans for helping organise with alongside Jodie Peck. I was so honoured to be invited and to be there to support Aunty Fay and Uncle Bill. It was a lovely event and it was amazing to see the close friendships that have been made between Aunty Fay, Uncle Bill, Jodie, and the RAAF staff.
