Overview
Council staff, in consultation with Councillors, have undertaken a significant review into the operation of Council's Recreation Facilities with the view to providing a long-term strategy for the delivery of these services, whilst also enhancing the customer experience and livability of the city.
A primary outcome of the review work undertaken to date is the identification of the need for an overarching structure and brand that encompasses Council’s major recreational facilities inclusive of:
• The Oasis Aquatic Centre
• Multi-Purpose Stadium (MPS)
• Bolton Park Stadium
• Jim Elphick tennis Centre
It has also been identified that a commercial business opportunity exists to operate the gym (currently known as Wagga Workout) which means that in the future members of the community would be able to access the facilities like the pool, gym and tennis centre under a joint membership.
Proposed fees and charges
Council placed its proposed new fees and charges on public exhibition for its leisure facilities, specifically the Jim Elphick Tennis Centre and Workout Wagga Gym.
The proposed new fees were on exhibition from Wednesday 30 of October 2024 for a period of 28 days, until Wednesday 27 November 2024. Council invited public submissions on the proposed new fee and charge, during the exhibition period.
There were 8 submissions received during the public exhibition period. Relevant changes were made to the fees and presented to Council at the 16 December 2024 Ordinary Meeting, at which they were adopted.
